Ramachandra C. Reddy

Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery; System Chief for Pulmonary Embolism Surgery, Mount Sinai Health System

Dr. Reddy received his medical degree from Madras University in India and graduated as a gold medalist. He then underwent training in cardiac surgery in Chennai before moving to the US and completing his Thoracic Surgical training at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. During his training he spent research years at the National Institutes of Health and the Allegheny Singer Research Institute working on Neo-angiogenesis as a technique of revascularization. Some of his work was supported by an American Heart Association Affiliate Fellowship Award. Over the last several years Dr. Reddy has continued to emphasize minimally invasive and non-sternotomy strategies for coronary revascularization including OPCAB, MIDCAB, and hybrid approaches. In the last several years he has started and expanded a surgical program for pulmonary embolism both acute and chronic. He continues to publish actively in all of these areas and retains an active interest in innovation and teaching.
