Dr. Andrea Imperatori is Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the Department of Medicine and Surgery, University of Insubria, Varese (see website at http://www4.uninsubria.it/on-line/home/rubrica/home-page-docente.html?P1_m=P010069) .

He received his MD Degree at the University of Pavia in 1994, and his fellowship in Surgery at the University of Insubria in 2000. He was Visiting Research Fellow at the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton on Tees, Cleveland, Great Britain (2000). He was a Clinical Observer at the Department of Interdisciplinary Endoscopy, Thoraxklinik at Heidelberg University (2005), and at the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases (2008).

In 2011 he was appointed Director of Postgraduate School in Thoracic Surgery School of Medicine, University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. Moreover, he supervised several PhD students in the PhD course in Biotechnologies, Biosciences and Surgical Technologies (University of Insubria).

He organized as scientific secretary or co-organizer 34 National or International scientific meetings on lung cancer, mini-invasive surgical techniques and surgical infections. He is author or co-author of more than 150 scientific articles on: lung cancer, screening, pleural mesothelioma, surgery of lung metastases, mini-invasive surgery, surgical infections, perioperative management of surgical patients, thoracic and oncological surgery. The 64 publications included in Scopus (Elsevier) have 751 citations and an h-index =17, updated at June 21, 2017. He co-authored 16 book chapters. He is reviewer of many scientific journals

He is currently active member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgery (ESTS), International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SICT), Scientific Committee of the Center for Thoracic Surgery, University of Insubria.
