Oscar Arrieta, MD, MSc

Dr. Oscar Arrieta is strongly dedicated to clinical and translational research in Thoracic Oncology. He currently leads the Thoracic Oncology Unit and Laboratory of Personalized Medicine at the National Institute of Cancer in México City (INCan). Additionally, Dr. Arrieta is a faculty member of the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM), with more than 24 years of experience. Currently, he is a Medical Oncology and Thoracic Oncology professor.

Research activities for Dr. Arrieta include the assessment of predictive and prognostic markers for lung cancer treatment, the development of novel therapeutic approaches in lung cancer, mesothelioma and brain metastases as well as quality of life and disease burden issues in lung cancer patients. He is actively involved in the conception, conduction and coordination of clinical trials in the field of lung cancer.

Dr. Arrieta is an active researcher of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) as well as a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Respiratory Society (ERS), and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), for which he serves as the regional representative in México and Central America. He is author or coauthor of more than 130 publications in peer-reviewed journals, with an h-index of 33 and more than 6500 citations.
