
Hisashi Iwata

In 1989, Dr. Iwata graduated Gifu University School of Medicine and received his medical degree. In 1993, he received his Doctor of Philosophy from Graduate School of Medicine, Gifu University. In 1994, he was a visiting research scholar at the University of Southern California, USA. In 2004, he had the Japanese Board of General Thoracic Surgery.
In 2000, Dr. Iwata joined the faculty at Gifu University where he became the assistant professor of the First Department of Surgery in Gifu University Hospital. In 2009, he became the clinical professor of the First Department of Surgery in Gifu University Hospital. In 2011, he became associate professor of Department of General and Cardiothoracic Surgery and vice director of the First Department of Surgery in Gifu University Hospital.
Dr. Iwata is Editor for the General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
He is active member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Chest Physicians, European Association for Cardio-thoracic Surgery, and European Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
Dr. Iwata’s research focuses on minimally invasive surgery in lung cancer and immunology. His research has been funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). He has published over 151 papers and has written over 5 book chapters.
