Dr. Hatem A. Azim Jr. is a medical oncologist currently serving as the Associate Scientific Director of the BrEAST Data Centre at the Jules Bordet Institute in Brussels, Belgium.

Dr. Azim Jr.previously worked at the National Cancer Institute in Cairo and the EuropeanInstitute of Oncology in Milan before joining the Jules Bordet Institute in2009. In the period from 2009 – 2012, he worked as a doctoral fellow in the departments of medical oncology and the breast cancer translational research laboratory developing clinical and translational research projects in the field of breast cancer with particular focus on breast cancer arising in young women and the relationship between breast cancer and pregnancy. He got appointed as the associate scientific director of the BrEAST Data Centre in 2012 to guide conducting and executing phase II and phase III trials in the field of breast cancer. He completed his PhD from the Faculty of Medicine at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles in 2013, which focused on breast cancer in young women.

Dr. Azim Jr. also holds two Masters Degrees in oncology from Cairo University and University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK). He received several awards including the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Translational Research Award, the Scholar-in-training Award from the American Association of Clinical Research (AACR) in addition to the International Development and Education Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He published more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in high impact factor journals and 5 book chapters mainly in the field of breast cancer, particularly focusing on young breast cancer patients, pregnancy and fertility related issue.
