Clinical and research interests: thoracic surgical oncology, tracheobronchial laser and stenting and non-small cell lung cancer therapy, regenerative medicine and stem cell technologies in thoracic surgery.

Prof. Francesco Petrella is Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the Department of Oncology and Hemato-oncology of the University of Milan, Italy and a Deputy Director Thoracic Surgeon at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, European Institute of Oncology in Milan.

Dr. Petrella serves as editorial board member and reviewer of many journals focusing on cardiothoracic surgery as well as on regenerative medicine.

Dr. Petrella’s teaching activity focuses on thoracic oncology, surgical physiopathology of the chest and anatomy; he is currently Medical Consultant for Civil and Criminal Court of Milan (Italy) for medical responsibility.
