In the published article entitled “Biofunctional study on chemoresistance in esophageal squamous carcinoma cells induced by missense mutation of NOTCH1 p.E450K” (1), there are errors in the legend of Figure 2.

Figure 1 illustrated, in detail and with the 140-cell line as an example, the complete procedure for generating point-mutant cells. Figure 2 was designed to highlight the similarities and differences between the 140- and 450-cell lines during the same procedure. Consequently, a few images that document identical stages were reused.

The legends of Figure 1 depicted the 140-cell line, and the legend of Figure 2 clearly identifies panels C, E, G, and I as steps of the 140-cell line protocol. There was no intention to mislead readers, pad the manuscript, or substitute results.

Given that any reuse of images within the article must be explicitly stated in the figure legend, the legend for Figure 2 should be updated as follows:

Figure 2 CRISPR/Cas9 technology to construct NOTCH1 p.E450K point MT KYSE140 and KYSE450 esophageal cancer cell lines. (A,C,E,G,I) Illustration of the construction and validation of missense MT cells of the KYSE140 cell line; (B,D,F,H,J) illustration of the construction and validation of missense MT cells of the KYSE450 cell line. (A,B) Schematic diagrams of targeting based on CRISPR/Cas9 technology; (A) knock-in point mutation c.1348G>A (pGlu450Lys) in exon 8 of CL-ZY2-007 gene; (B) knock-in point mutation c.1348G>A (pGlu450Lys) in exon 8 in CL-ZY2-008 gene; (C,D) the cell target vector map; (E,F) the design of positive clone screening primers; (G,H) the PCR positive clone screening results; (I,J) the summary of PCR product sequencing results; (G,I) 1-A08 and 1-B03 are the KYSE140 cell line NOTCH1 point mutation homozygous knock-in positive clones; (H,J) 1-A01 and 1-B12 are KYSE450 cell line point mutation homozygous knock-in positive clones. Figure 2C excerpted Figure 1E; Figure 2E excerpted Figure 1F; Figure 2G excerpted the terminal two panels of Figure 1H; and Figure 2I excerpted Figure 1I. HR, homologous recombination; mKI, mut knockin; MT, mutant-type; PCR, polymerase chain reaction.

The authors confirmed this error did not significantly affect either the results or the conclusions of the paper.
