SIRS, qSOFA, and organ failure for assessing sepsis at the emergency department
Abstract
Sepsis incidence and mortality rates widely vary among different countries and underlies as a major cause of morbidity and mortality. A recent meta-analysis from high-income countries estimated sepsis annual global incidence at 31.5 million cases, with 19.4 million cases of severe sepsis, resulting in 5.3 million deaths annually (1).
