Abstract: From an evaluation of sleep-related problems in children attending two special needs schools in the local area (Southwark) [Turnbull et al., abstract in press], it was found that parent-reported sleep difficulties in the index child were equally common at both primary and secondary school age (59% and 61% respectively), and that burden on care-givers was substantial (38% and 40% respectively reporting their child’s sleep pattern was a “great” burden). To address this issue, we have developed a multi-disciplinary cross-borough (Lambeth and Southwark) community-based Sleep Clinic for children with neurodevelopmental conditions. The service commenced in April 2017, and has received approximately 15 referrals per month to date.
