Abstract

Cardiac surgery is the second most common cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) in intensive care and affects, depending on the definition, 8.9% to 39% of patients (1). Renal replacement therapy (RRT) is needed in 1–5 % (1,2) of post cardiac surgery cases.
