Introduction of Department
The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, located in the Shandong Province of China, is one of the largest thoracic surgery centers in China. It has a total of 160 beds and takes on over 4,000 cases of surgery with general anesthesia annually. Among them, 90% of the cases are minimally invasive surgeries such as thoracoscopic surgery. The hospital incorporates novel technologies and techniques in their practice, such as robotic sleeve lobectomy, robotic tracheal tumor resection, robotic-assisted lung segmentectomy and subsegmental resection, electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy, thoracolaparoscopic esophagectomy, subxiphoid thymectomy, and many others. The hospital has conducted a large number of clinical studies on lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and thymoma. As a standardized training base, trainees in the thoracic surgery department can participate in preoperative management, surgical treatment and postoperative rehabilitation of patients. They can also learn minimally invasive surgery techniques and methods for common and complex disease regarding thoracic surgery.
