Mayo Clinic offers an advanced one-year or two-year fellowship in general thoracic surgery for individuals who have recently completed either the American Board of Thoracic Surgery requirements or their equivalence in thoracic surgery training abroad.
Mayo Clinic has one of the largest and most complex general thoracic surgery practices in North America. Trainees receive a robust preoperative clinical experience, an extensive operative experience encompassing all types of open and minimally invasive chest wall, esophageal, mediastinal, and pulmonary procedures, as well as obtain experience with the postoperative management of a wide array of complex general thoracic surgical conditions. Trainee would obtain experience with robotic thoracic surgery using the da Vinci Xi surgical system, VATS lung cases, and extensive minimally invasive esophageal experience including P.O.E.M for achalasia.
Outstanding opportunity and support for clinical research, presentation, and publication is available. A strong educational program, which may be of benefit for Board preparation, occurs on a daily basis. For successful application, international medical graduates must hold a valid ECFMG certificate. Applications are being accepted for July 2019 positions and after.
